UPDATED: Details on Steve Cutler’s WWE Release, Cutler Comments

UPDATE: A new report has details on Steve Cutler’s WWE release. Fightful Select reports that there was heat on Cutler from Vince McMahon after the Smackdown roster member contracted COVID-19 in early January. Both Cutler and Wesley Blake were actively trying to return to television, but it didn’t happen.

The site notes that the move was WWE’s decision and that Cutler was at the WWE Performance Center, as he was offering to bump for the PC’s “big man”. Cutler was reportedly a welcome and familiar face there and well liked. Finally, it was noted that from WWE, the “door was open” on a return later.

Cutler issued a statement on his WWE release, posting to Twitter:

“Unfortunately, today I was released. It was shocking, to say the least. But, I am excited about the future and all the possibilities in front of me.

Thanks for your continued support.

ORIGINAL: WWE has released Steve Cutler from their roster. The company announced on Thursday that Cutler, who was previously a member of the Forgotten Sons and had been assisting King Corbin as of late, has been released:

Cutler was brought up to the Forgotten Sons in 2018 after four years in NXT. The group found itself sidelined after Jaxson Ryder’s controversial social media comments and vanished from television. Cutler returned with Wesley Blake at the end of last year as the two Knights of the Lone Wolf, assisting Corbin.
