NJPW Reportedly Had Talks With Pluto TV For Streaming Deal

We reported earlier today that NJPW content will be arriving on the Roku Channel starting February 11. However, it seems they have been talking with another free streaming service as well. Wrestling Inc reports that New Japan has had discussions with Pluto TV about joining their service.

Pluto TV is available on Apple TV, Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV, Roku and more, while the Roku Channel is just on Roku. So if they did land that service, their reach would expand. Pluto TV recently launched a wrestling channel that featured Beyond Wrestling, Women’s Wrestling Revolution and DEFY Wrestling. NJPW is significantly larger than those, so it would also be a big get for Pluto. Pluto TV’s current deals with the independent promotions have been for a revenue split with no rights fees, similar to those from Youtube.
